No More Jockeys is a game created by Tim Key and since played with Alex Horne and Mark Watson on their Youtube channel of the same name.

It’s a game with simple rules:

  1. Player order is determined by a coin toss.
  2. Players take turns naming a person, generally a celebrity or other well known person, and a category that person fits.
  3. Subsequent plays must not breach any of the categories.
  4. The game continues until a player ‘Challenges’ that a name fits into an earlier category.
  5. If a player concedes to a Challenge, the game is over and the challenger wins.
  6. Following the naming of a category, a player can ask ‘Name Another’, to have their opponent name another person who falls into that category.
  7. If a person fails to Name Another, they forfeit the game.

It can be played with one or more friends without any material or digital needs. All you need is to know some people and their characteristics. Rest is just about having fun and good discussions.

The game was born in 2009 as a BBC comedy show No More Women. It made an appearance in the first season of It’s Your Round in episode 5 with Tim Key, Micky Flanagan, Bridget Christie and Nick Hancock, aired in 2011.

I dream of embarking on a long train journey across Europe with a friend or two and playing the No More Jockeys throughout the entire trip.
