IMDB: My Old Ass (2024) Starring: Maisy Stella, Aubrey Plaza, Percy Hynes White

Aubrey Plaza is one of the under-appreciated actors of our time. Sure, her role in Parks and Recreation keeps her popping up here and there but I think for her level of acting she should be popping up more.

My old ass is a coming of age story of teenager Elliott who one night does shrooms with her friends and ends up meeting her – from the future. They end up staying in touch (I think Doctor Who had something to do with setting their phone plans up) and the older Elliott in her mid-30s ends up providing life advice to her younger self.

It’s a story of how being young and dumb and not knowing what’s the best thing to do in life is what makes us live and grow and experience.

Okay, but if you weren’t young and dumb, you’d never fucking be brave enough to do anything. If you knew how shitty and unfair life would be, you’d never leave your house.

Maisy Stella does a stellar job in the lead role as the young Elliott and Plaza complements her performance brilliantly as the older Elliott.

Time travel and Aubrey Plaza are not a new pairing either. I absolutely loved her performance in Safety Not Guaranteed (2012).
