Pooh case is where Important Words are capitalised within a sentence, for Effect.

When I grew up, Winnie-the-Pooh (or Nalle Puh as he’s called in Finnish) was a childhood favourite of mine. There’s just something magical about living teddy bears: in addition to mr Pooh, I grew up enjoying the adventures of Paddington Bear and the Finnish classic Uppo-Nalle.

It’s been a while since I’ve read the books so I hadn’t thought about them in the context of writing myself but thanks to Giles Turnbull’s blog post, I was reminded of the Pooh case: a way of capitalising words that are not proper nouns, to signify importance of them.

Growing up, I always felt the use of them whimsical and special and Milne’s writing style has definitely affected how I enjoy writing: breaking the rules here and there to spark whimsicality and wonderr.
