I LOVED Stana Katic in Castle. When I finally in 2026 found out about Absentia, a 3-season crime mystery that ran 2017–2020, I was so excited to see another show that she was starring. Going from NYPD detective in Castle to FBI agent in Absentia, there’s a lot of similar wit and brilliance in the roles despite the series being otherwise completely different in tone and style.
Absentia is a show about an FBI agent Emily Byrne (Katic) who disappeared 6 years ago and was presumed dead — until her then-husband gets a call telling him she’s trapped and he needs to save her. What follows, is an exciting and well-told story about what happened to her.
