After watching the sequel, Devil Wears Prada 2 in the theater, I had to revisit the original.
Devil Wears Prada is the ultimate underdog story: Andy gets a job in a fashion magazine where the job environment is brutal, and straight up hostile. Being the second assistant to magazine’s chief editor Miranda Priestly is a job that can crush even the most tough skinned worker. Everyone who has worked for a boss or a colleague who is a bit difficult to deal with can feel Andy’s pain in their soul and bones. That’s what makes it so easy to cheer for her.
Anne Hathaway kills in the role of Andy. She’s not alone though: the movie’s cast is stacked. Meryl Streep leads the pack as Miranda, Stanley Tucci is a brilliant Nigel and I’ll never say no to Emily Blunt and her British accent as a bossy first assistant. Bloody hell.
Devil Wears Prada is a movie I never get tired of watching.
