IMDB: Matrix Resurrections (2021)

Starring: Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Jessica Henwick

When the fourth Matrix movie game out in the middle of the pandemic, I was really excited for it. I loved the original movies and I was craving to see something new in that world. And I liked it a lot, even though there were some moments that didn’t quite feel fitting in.

Tonight, it was on telly and I rewatched it (to be fair, I thought they’d show the third movie and only realised it’s the fourth when it started). And… I was not that excited about it anymore.

I’m more open to fan service than most people but this one might have been a bit too much of that. 4 years later, I wasn’t craving for that fan service and didn’t get excited about Neo’s and Trinity’s first meeting in the cafe or the tension waiting for them to recognise each other or seeing the new characters do the tricks that originals did back in the day. Those things used to excite me when watching the movie but now they feel hollow.
