Farm Keeper is a 2023 tile-based farming roguelike game where you grow your farm island — plant crops, take care of animals, build buildings and deploy fishing ships — to keep up with ever-increasing rent by the landlord.
You start with a 3 by 3 grid with your farm house in the middle. Every 4 days, you need to pay rent to stay on the island or your run ends. The rent amount increases all the time so you need to keep building your farm engine to keep up with the costs. To win a run, you must build a mansion that unlocks at a certain date, based on the difficulty level.
As days roll by, you unlock new crops, animals and buildings and each day you get to expand your island with a free tile, picked from 3 random options.
The art style is cute and there’s enough of different types of tiles to play with.
The main gameplay loop is based around your stamina and money. Each day, you start with 12 points of stamina and most of the actions cost you one. You can build wells to replenish your energy, hire workers to trade money for stamina and build buildings to increase your profits or reduce your workload.
