I saw a recommendation for this movie in my RSS feed yesterday from Gordon’s blog, bought a ticket for an afternoon showing and ended up spending my afternoon very well.
The cast is brilliant. All four carry the movie on their shoulders and bring their own unique aspect into the story and atmosphere. The balance is beautiful.
I was going to write about how the music elevates this movie but then I realised it wasn’t just the music that was great. It’s the entire soundscape, including the moments where the lack of sound was loud. Other than some epic soundtracks of scifi or fantasy movies, I rarely notice the atmosphere created by the ambient sounds.
I also love movies that do something different with the setting. Almost the entire movie happens inside Joe (Seth Rogan) and Angela’s (Olivia Wilde) apartment. A confined space like this is something I always appreciate.
I’ll repeat Gordon’s praise. This movie is a lot of fun and I highly recommend watching it.
